Brick Eagle Social Housing Foundation and Sheltrex Developers on Thursday initiated a programme to distribute one million seed balls to restore the green cover in Karjat and Kasara.
According to Rajesh Krishnan, Founder, Brick Eagle Group, restoration of the green cover is a small step towards tackling climate changes caused by afforestation and global warming.
His company aims to motivate people to be a part of this movement and build a sustainable environment.
“We will be distributing seed balls for plantation to schools, NGOs, local government bodies and housing societies so as to plant as many trees as possible in Karjat and Kasara region” said Kirti Timmanagoudar, co-founder, Brick Eagle Foundation.
Krish Murali Eshwar, chief of innovation at Brick Eagle, said even if the green initiative achieves a success rate of 20 per cent, 200,000 seed balls could be distributed for the development of a mini-forest in the region.
“After we took over the Sheltrex Karjat project, we did not cut a single tree to free up space for construction. It is our social responsibility to provide a greener environment. Our mission is to disseminate 1,000 seed balls with the handover of 1,000 keys to reach our target of a million,” Sandeep Singh Gaur, CEO, Sheltrex, said.
